Hello Families! Mrs. Weaver is coordinating a monthly staff luncheon where grade level parents take turns each month to contribute items. The luncheon is next week,Thursday 15th. It is the turn of 1st grade parents! Please see the sign-up sheet here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/508044eaaa92ba02-october Many thanks for your support,
DISMISSAL For dismissal time, If you can, please allow your child to bring his or her own book, or even a word-search or coloring book during this time each day. Please note that for K-3 dismissal, the time for pick-up is 2.06 to 2.30. After 2.30, K-2 children are considered late pick-ups, unless they are waiting for older siblings to be released from their classes. UNIFORM! Please make sure that you follow the TMSA handbook regarding colors of shoes (no boots!) and the wearing of belts. Your child may receive a note if he or she is not in compliance with the dress code. Please encourage your child to tuck-in his or her shirt as they get out of the car in the morning, and we will continue to remind all students throughout the day. Students should be wearing school shirts or sweaters with the TMSA logo clearly visible. FAMILY CONTRACTS should be signed and returned by August 31st. I have received most of them! MATERIALS FEE of $20 is due by September 4th. TUTORING AND CLUBS begin next week. Please note that tutoring is by invitation only. Therefore, if I have identified that your child is in need of tutoring, I will contact you with a permission form. Please check your child's binder today for club sign-up! TARDIES TMSA has a 'zero tolerance' for students being late to school. Your child will be marked tardy if he or she arrives at school at 8.55 or later. HOMEWORK The homework packet has been issued today. It is in your child's binder. It is due each FRIDAY. You can decide how to pace it, but please note that reading should be taking place every day. You can help your child with his or her homework by all means, but please make sure that it is completed by your child. If anything is not clear, please contact me. SPELLING TEST each week is Friday, unless Friday is a holiday/teacher work day....in which case it will be Thursday! Hello new families! I am so excited for this new year with my new class. We have already made such a wonderful start. It always takes a little while to get used to new routines, expectations and procedures. As the students make the transition into 1st grade, a little more is expected of them. We work a lot on cultivating good work habits and independence. We also work on creating a friendly community of learners. I hope that you have time to look through my Welcome Pack, that was handed out on Open House night. In there you will find my contact information. We have had a few questions about supplies. Yes, there was a request for two binders. One is the daily communication and homework binder, while the other one will soon be your child's writing binder. The clipboard is important because we move around the room a lot and work in different places. Thank you so very much for the many supplies you have sent in so far. We really appreciate it! I hope that you had a chance to meet Mrs. Kosin on Open House night. She is our teacher assistant and we are very lucky to have her. Just a few friendly reminders, parents -
Thank you for your support, and don't hesitate if you wish to contact me. As I write this, I am getting ready to put your email addresses in the system so you will soon be receiving a group email. If you haven't returned the paperwork yet, please do so. Homework will begin in full force next week. As for this week, your child's homework is to read every day for at least 20 minutes, and to work on his or her 'All About Me Bag' project. |
