Of course, the 100th day of school this year was supposed to come last week, the day after President's Day. We didn't realize that we would be out of school because of the weather so we had to wait until this Monday, February 23rd, to recognize this day. Students always love to know that they are '100 days smarter'! We wrote stories about what we would do if we had $100, stamped 100 stamps and collected 100 words.

Parents, I thought that you might enjoy some of the suggestions in this article (link below). In the meantime, if you are wondering how your children can stay on top of their academic skills during all of these snow days, here are a few ideas:http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2014/01/things_to_do_on_snowy_day_kids_indoor_activities.html
We had our best Read-a-Palooza so far this year. It is always an exciting day, but somehow this year it was an even bigger success. The students astounded me with their creative skills in putting together their shoebox book reports. We welcomed many interesting guest readers (including guest authors) and in the afternoon we participated in the school parade. Here are some snaps from the big day.
We have been learning about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr; Garrett Morgan, and Dr. Mae Jemison; and this week we are finding out about Jackie Robinson. In each study we have learned about how each of these important people is significant and how they made an impact on not just America but the world. Check out our projects on Dr. Mae Jemison, and if you stop by our classroom, take a look at our flip-books on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
